ANDOVER — One week after the high-profile arrest of an Andover pediatrician on charges of receiving child pornography, U.S. Postal Inspectors have arrested another Andover man on the same charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
William Thomas, 64, of 4A Colonial Drive, was arrested after authorities executed a search warrant of his condominium yesterday morning, Andover police said. He was charged with receipt of child pornography, according to Christina DiIorio-Sterling, a spokewoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston
Details surrounding his arrest were unavailable last night because the affidavit filled out by agents had not been docketed, DiIorio-Sterling said.
Robert Comins, who lives in Thomas’ condominium complex, said authorities arrived at the complex around 8 a.m. and were there for at least two hours. He said there were at least five men with the words “federal agent” on their shirts.
He said he did not know Thomas and would not comment on the charges.
The arrest comes a week after Dr. Richard Keller, a pediatric endocrinologist at Boston Children’s Hospital and a pediatrics instructor at Harvard Medical School, was arrested at his Cyr Circle home and charged with receipt of child pornography.
Keller, 56, is on administrative leave from Children’s Hospital.
A detention hearing for Keller has been scheduled for 1:30 today.
